DIY Notebook with Watercolor Labels

This guide will show you how to decorate your notebook cover with watercolor labels! It's super easy, and it's the perfect way to add a cool twist to a plain notebook. The best part is that the watercolor effect is made with brush pens!

The supplies that you will need are:
- a plain notebook
- 2 unlined index cards
- your favorite Tombow brush pens - I used pens from the Bright Palette
- a watercolor brush
- a plastic bag or blending palette
- a pair of scissors
- a Tombow Fude brush pen or black fine line pen
- decorative washi tape
- decorative stickers

The first step is to add a watercolor effect to your index cards using the Tombow brush pens.
Pick a few of your favorite colors, and use them to color on the plastic bag in short strokes (picture 1). Then use your brush to drop water droplets over the colored area (picture 2). Make sure to space out the droplets like shown. Finally, place your index card down onto the plastic bag and smooth it out (picture 3). After you peel it back, the design will be transferred!
Tip: Keep a paper towel nearby to soak up excess water during the transfer.

Repeat this so you have two index cards. After the index cards have dried, cut off the corners to form your label.

Using your Tombow Fude or black fine line pen, label the cards with whatever you're going to be using the notebook for.
I chose to write "Notes" and my name.

Finally, stick the labels onto your notebook with some washi tape and decorate with stickers or stamps!

And that's it! Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and watercolor technique!
